Avienne's room

Almost 2 months later and we're still working on settling into our new place. We've made a boatload of progress, but there are still some unpacked, unorganized spaces throughout the house. The one room where I've managed to make the most progress is Avienne's bedroom/guestroom.  Since she still sleeps in a bassinet-sized crib in our bedroom, everything is pretty much in order in her room except for her crib. We plan on moving her into a bigger crib in a few weeks, and once she's consistently sleeping through the night, we'll move her permanently into her own room. For now, her room is where we go to hang out and have fun during the day and cozy up with a book at night. I plan to change out some of the wall decor at some point, but I think the room as it is serves its purpose well for now.  I'll share more pics of our new place as the other rooms start coming together.

Lovely gloom

It's a rare gloomy day in Austin today.  One of those stay inside, make lentil soup, lay around the house taking sporadic naps with mugs of hot coffee and knitting in between kind of days.  These days make me nostalgic for Paris, and around here, they don't come often and they don't last long enough.  So, when they're here, I try to make the most of them.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Austin rocks

It's gorgeous out today!  I think fall may have decided to hit the Austin city limits this year, which is totally fine by me.  We woke up this morning to the sounds of leaves shaking in the wind and perfect daylight peeking through the blinds.  We didn't really have much planned for the day aside from a few errands in the morning, but we had to get out to enjoy the reprieve from the heat and what turned out to be a beautiful blustery day.  A light lunch, some leisurely walking, a petite pause cafĂ© - what late summer days are made for.

Long weekend

We had such a fun weekend, spending most of it with family and friends, eating good food and doing a bit of shopping.  It was a weekend full of simple goodness.

Saturday:

// Said goodbye to our first houseguest, tonton Baptiste.
// Avienne's first brunch at one of our favorite places, Mulberry. We survived without bothering too many other brunchers - she was such a good girl.
// Spent the rest of the afternoon walking around and into shops on 2nd Street.
// Avienne watched her first Texas football game (we beat Wyoming). Hook 'em!

Sunday:

// My mom treated us and some friends to an enchilada lunch.
// Avienne was so happy to spend time with Grammy and Popo.
// Mama's first night out (and Papa's first night alone with Avienne) was not a complete disaster. Hooray!

Monday:
// Brunch at Elizabeth Street Cafe.
// Some nice guy saw me taking pictures and offered to take ours. Austin folk are so friendly.
// After some shopping, playing and napping, we enjoyed a seriously delicious meal with friends.  The perfect ending to a lovely weekend.
